Known by the service name AOL IE Toolbar Server, the process aoltbserver.exe, which is technically an executable or EXE file, is a part of the software product called AOL Toolbar or AOL Toolbar Server, which is created by AOL LLC, or America Online LLC. AOL Toolbar is a type of a web browser toolbar for different Internet browsers, which include Internet Explorer or IE, Firefox, and Flock, so the component aoltbserver.exe is able to complete the overall function of the program. Also, aoltbserver.exe is an essential part of the software, so it is recommended to continue running as a background service, and must not be deleted or terminated, except only if it causes errors or problems that affect its function or the performance of the computer system. The aoltbserver.exe file is also digitally signed from AOL Inc. - Symantec Time Stamping Services Signer - G3, and compatible with most or all versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, or Windows operating systems, or Windows OS, including Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. aoltbserver.exe. is used by AOL Toolbar or AOL Toolbar Server, If you shut down aoltbserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop aoltbserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is AOL Toolbar or AOL Toolbar Server, from your system.

Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
