File amdtools.sys is a system file also called the AMD Special Tools Driver designed by AMD for the Special Tools Driver also called AMD Special Tools Driver. This file is not a Windows core file and is not a visible program on the taskbar nor does it have a display window when in operation. System files keep the extension *.sys. System files are windows files that can occupy space on a computer’s hard drive. The file extension is one of the extensions developed by Microsoft Corporation and the most common are MSDOS.sys and IO.sys. System file extension *.sys is used by Microsoft DOS and Windows operating systems. Most files with this extension are not visible on the computer’s folders or registry. This file extension has been designed specifically for Windows operating system but can be run on a Mac OS provided that a Windows operating system is installed on the Mac OS.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. amdtools.sys. is used by AMD Special Tools Driver, If you shut down amdtools.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
