The aig.exe process is an executable file classified by many users as a malicious program associated with the Trojan:Win32/Bumat!rts application, which is a known family of Trojans that can infect Windows-based systems. Other user reports claim that the aig.exe process is a variant of the TROJ_SCAR.X program, which is another group of Trojans that are reported to also be integrated with spyware functionalities. The aig.exe process is said to be embedded with the capability to create and insert keys and entries into the Windows System Registry upon its successful placement and activation in the Windows-based system, and this is done in order for the system to allow the aig.exe process to automatically run during system startup and continue operating as a background process, without user consent, during system runtime. The same user reports claim that the aig.exe file, while actively running as a background process, searches for unprotected TCP/IP network ports that it can exploit and use to initiate contact with predesignated Web servers, which are said to be operated and managed by its authors. The same users also said that, upon initiating contact with these remote servers, the aig.exe process begins to download more malicious programs unto the system, while some users reported that the aig.exe process is also capable of covertly transmitting private user details and Internet surfing information that this malicious process has secretly gathered from the infected system and its default Web browser to those Web servers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. aig.exe. is used by Trojan:Win32/Bumat!rts and TROJ_SCAR.X, If you shut down aig.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop aig.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Trojan:Win32/Bumat!rts and TROJ_SCAR.X, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Trojan:Win32/Bumat!rts and TROJ_SCAR.X, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
