What is  adobereader.dll

The adobereader.dll process file, also known as For Viewing and Printing Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), is the core process file of Adobe Reader/Adobe Acrobat software manufactured by Adobe Systems Corporation. The process file is also classified as a Browser Helper Object (BHO) that activates automatically when an Internet browser is opened. Upon user-execution of a browser, the process file will start its scanning and monitoring of the currently active Internet browser for readable PDF files. Both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat uses adobereader.dll as one of their process file. The only difference between the two is that in Adobe Acrobat, users are allowed to create PDF files, which is a negligible function in Adobe Reader. Users may read, print, sign, manipulate, and manage PDF files on both programs containing the process file. This file is usually located on a Windows computer’s C:\Program Files folder.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. adobereader.dll. is used by Adobe Reader, If you shut down adobereader.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
