Created by ThinkPad software developers, acwlicon.exe is the process file for Access Connections in Windows by Lenovo. Acwlicon.exe is a network connection assistant for ThinkPad computers. It enables quick switching between network and Internet settings by the selection of location profile. Acwlicon.exe is loaded upon startup, when the associated files run. Acwlicon.exe can be located in C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\ACWLIcon.exe. Run keys for acwlicon.exe are the startup registry keys used to automatically launch a particular application when a user logs on to Windows account. Lenovo Access Connections is a utility software for ThinkPad Lenovo computers. It manages the network connections between multiple locations across network location profiles. A particular location profile automatically stores network configuration that is required to the connectivity to desired network profile location in addition to the location-specific settings like the user-preferred browser and home page, firewall status, proxy configuration, file and printer sharing options, and user-defined default printer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. acwlicon.exe. is used by Access Connections, If you shut down acwlicon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
