The accagnt.exe file is an executable file developed by America Online for the AOL Computer Check-Up software which is better known by that software name. The file has been digitally signed by VeriSign, a trusted company authority. This file automatically runs when a user starts up the computer system. It is also not a core file meaning it can take a storage space of about 326,232 bytes or more on Windows 7 and Windows XP operating systems. Although this file does not have a visible window when running in the background, it is only technically 18% risk rated. The file is usually located in the C:\Program Files folder of a Windows computer. The software associated to this file, AOL Computer Check-Up, is used in improving computer performances by analysing, identifying, and fixing PC issues present on a user’s computer. It also removes unnecessary files or applications from the computer that may have been left behind when a user uninstalls a program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. accagnt.exe. is used by AOL Computer Check-Up, If you shut down accagnt.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop accagnt.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is AOL Computer Check-Up, from your system.
