The file a2service.exe loads a process known as a-squared Service. The process is also sometimes referred to as Emsisoft Anti-Malware Service. The software is from Emsi Software GmbH. The process a-squared Service is a component of the software a-squared Free, while the other one, Emsisoft Anti-Malware Service is part of the software Emsisoft Anti-Malware. For both types of software, the processes associated with them generally serve as an anti-malware application that scans for and blocks malicious software. The processes also work to block malicious codes, preventing them from installing on the computer, especially in the registry keys of applications installed on the PC. The standard file paths for each of the processes are C:\Program Files\a-squared Free\a2service.exe and C:\Program Files\Emsisoft Anti-Malware\a2service.exe. File sizes range from 425,080 bytes to 1,858,144 bytes. Referred .dll objects are engine.dll, a2framework.dll, a2update.dll, a2handler.dll and core.dll. The process executes as a background task. The a2service.exe file automatically executes when the system boots-up.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. a2service.exe. is used by a-squared Service/Emsisoft Anti-Malware Service, If you shut down a2service.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop a2service.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is a-squared Service/Emsisoft Anti-Malware Service, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as a-squared Service/Emsisoft Anti-Malware Service, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
