The 5.tmp process is known to be part of the MEMSWEEP2 software. It can be located in one of the folders of the Windows operating system. This file or process is not a core file and therefore, is not visible. It also runs automatically whenever a user starts up his or her web browser. Experts say that if this file is stored on a C:\Documents and Settings folder, there is a 100% risk that it will damage the user’s computer system. But if it is on its usual location on C:\Windows\System32 folder, the risk is rated to be at 92%. Although 5.tmp process has the ability to monitor or control other programs and applications in a Windows computer, it is not considered as a Windows system file.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. 5.tmp. is used by MEMSWEEP2, If you shut down 5.tmp, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop 5.tmp, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MEMSWEEP2, from your system.
