What is  1.tmp

The 1.tmp file is a temporary file that may be used by various Windows applications. The content of a file stored in the TMP format usually includes backup copies of data stored in output documents and files of certain applications. These TMP files are normally created automatically by the application at certain preconfigured time intervals. This allows the application to have backup copies of the output documents or files of the user, just in case sudden system crashes or unexpected application freezes happen. In such instances, these TMP files are referenced by the application when the user tries to open and view the content of the output document or file that corresponds to those TMP files, in order for the application to display the content of the output file or document that was last saved before the sudden system or application crash. Microsoft Windows also generates and uses these TMP files. The 1.tmp file may also be used as a template file by certain applications, which is then used by the same programs to generate TMP files that correspond to output files and documents created by users of the applications, and these TMP files are integrated with formatting attributes and layout specifications similar to those found in the 1.tmp template file.
