SQX Archiver UnSqueez

SQX Archiver UnSqueez

SQX Archiver UnSqueez is a small tool that will extract files from the SQX archives. The SQX Archiver is an open and free data compression and archival format that uses the Squeez compression utility. Squeez is a quick program for file compression that supports thirteen different compression algorithms, and reads and writes files in the formats SQX, ARJ, ZIP, LZH, CAB, RAR, GZIP, TAR, ACE, 7Z, UUE, JAR, and BZIP. Archives created from this utility are less vulnerable to garbled internet transfers and damaged storage media since Squeez adds recovery data to the archive files. The Unsqueez tool complements the compression functions of Squeez utility. Compressed data must be decompressed, and this process may be affected by several factors such as the degree of compression, the computational resources required to compress and uncompress the data, and the amount of distortion introduced. Since SQX Archiver Unsqueez is designed to complement Squeez, these factors are minimized during the file extraction.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .sqx files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .sqx. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
