The LP7 file extension was developed by Lex Persona, a company based in Paris, and these files are used by a Lex Personal application called LP7 Creator or LP7 Signer. Both CAdES and XAdES digital signature standards are supported by LP7 files. To create LP7 files, the LP7 Creator or LP7 Signer is required as well as opening these files may also require the said software. LP7 Creator is a program useful for signing electronic documents for digital evidence. All types of documents can be signed or stamped with the use of this software. Whether it is signing, countersigning, verifying and extracting signed contents, importing and declaring personal signatures, the software is necessary when it comes to offering better functionality. With LP7 files, it would be easy to sign and authenticate documents even if the process is done digitally.

Lex Persona LP7Creator or LP7Signer

Lex Persona LP7Creator or LP7Signer

The LP7Creator is a desktop application used to create and append electronic signatures to original documents of any file type, including DOC, PDF, CAD, XML, and other formats. Saving a signed document creates an authenticated version of the electronic original, but in the software's proprietary LP7 format. These files can only be previewed and edited using the Lex Persona LP7Creator or LP7Signer, which is used to verify and countersign the documents. As a stand-alone program, LP7Signer is freely available for download from the corporate site. Both applications have quick installation packs for Windows and Mac OS. The signed documents they generate are legally binding and heavily secured with automatic timestamps, trust certificates, and validated digital identities. Electronically generated signatures that are added to LP7 documents meet the global standards in preserving the evidence and authenticating the signatures with X.509 v3 digital certificates.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .lp7 files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .lp7. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
