The ymetray.exe process is an EXE program file bundled with other executable application process items, some modular Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files, certain SYS drivers, particular background process items and various associated component resources that are used and referenced by the Yahoo! Music Jukebox software. This is a Windows program classified as an audio playback and streaming digital music download manager that was developed by Yahoo! with a set of features for downloading and playing digital audio tracks from the Yahoo! database, viewing audio streams, organizing downloaded and streaming songs, creating playlists and sharing songs and playlists via Yahoo! Messenger. The ymetray.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox software, which also means the ymetray.exe process is integrated into the installer distribution packages of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox program. The ymetray.exe process is specifically deployed as a component of the Yahoo! Music Jukebox engine.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ymetray.exe. is used by Yahoo! Music Jukebox and Yahoo! Music Jukebox Engine Module, If you shut down ymetray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
