The wlmail.exe process is the executable file for Windows Live Mail, a Microsoft email service apart from Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Mail. Windows Live Mail, with former name Windows Live Mail Desktop, with code name Elroy, is a free Microsoft email client. WLM is the successor of Windows XP Outlook Express and Windows Vista Windows Mail. Both applications are available to be downloaded by the Windows Essentials.

How can I stop wlmail.exe and should I?
Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wlmail.exe. is used by Windows Live Mail, If you shut down wlmail.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wlmail.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Live Mail, from your system.
