The watermark.exe process is an executable program file that has been reported by many users as a variant of a malicious program belonging to the Troj/Zbot-ADH family of Trojans. The same user reports claimed the watermark.exe file infects Windows-based computers by penetrating the system and creating keys or entries that this malicious application injects into the Windows System Registry, in order for the watermark.exe process to automatically initialize during system startup. The watermark.exe process, upon its execution, then runs undetected by the user as a background process and tries to find vulnerable TCP/IP network ports that this malicious program can exploit, in order to download other malware components from the Web servers of its authors. The watermark.exe process then proceeds to activate the downloaded malware applications, in order to gather data and Internet browsing information from the system and the default Web browser, according to many users.
