VAIO Entertainment File Import Service, usually pre-loaded on Sony VAIO machines, is a background task that runs on the PC through the executable file vzfw.exe. The file launches a process that gives users the necessary tools to organize their media files for the VAIO Zone Framework. For most users, the file is not necessary so they choose to disable it. The file has been reported by several users as hogging CPU time, considerably slowing down the speed of the CPU, which is why disabling it was the better option for them. The most common concern of users is the CPU hogging issue. Other than this, the file is considered harmless. File location on disk is typically C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\VAIO Entertainment Platform\VzCdb\vzfw.exe. File size for version 3.1.0.1450 is 147,456 bytes. Also, this file version is what is generally installed on VAIO machines that run on Windows Vista OS. You may safely disable it if you find it hogging your CPU memory.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. vzfw.exe. is used by VAIO Entertainment File Import Service, If you shut down vzfw.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop vzfw.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is VAIO Entertainment File Import Service, from your system.
