What is  volume.exe

The volume.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by many users as a malicious application variant of the Troj/VB-ETG program. This is a malicious application integrated with Trojan-like functionalities, which means the volume.exe process, upon its successful placement and activation in Windows-based systems as claimed by some users, can create and inject keys and entries into the Windows System Registry, in order to automatically initialize during system startup. According to the same user reports, the volume.exe process, upon its initialization in the system, runs undetected by the user as a background process during system runtime, in order to search for vulnerable TCP/IP network ports that it can exploit. These exploited TCP/IP network ports, as stated by some users, are then used by the volume.exe process to initiate contact with predesignated Web servers that are most likely operated and managed by the authors of the Troj/VB-ETG malware. Upon initiating contact with these Web servers, the volume.exe process then proceeds to download more malicious applications unto the system, in order to gather Internet browsing information and private data from the infected system and its default Web browser. This data is then covertly forwarded by the volume.exe process to these Web servers, according to the same users.
