The virtualdub.exe file is an executable program resource included with other EXE application files, certain system driver utilities, some DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files, particular background process items and various associated components that are required by the VirtualDub software. This application is a Windows program classified as a digital video editing, capture and processing tool that was developed for widely used 32 and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. The virtualdub.exe process is specifically implemented as the executable program dispatcher file of the VirtualDub software, which means users can load the VirtualDub video editing program unto the system by activating the virtualdub.exe file. The virtualdub.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of the VirtualDub software, which also means the virtualdub.exe process is integrated into the installer distribution packages of the VirtualDub program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. virtualdub.exe. is used by VirtualDub, If you shut down virtualdub.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop virtualdub.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is VirtualDub, from your system.
