Viewpoint Manager for Viewpoint Media Player is the process that comes with the file extension of viewmgr.exe. The file’s primary purpose is to update the software for the media player. This is a background task that checks for updates from time to time, and downloads them as they become available. Keeping your software files updated is essential so as not to compromise the functions of your media player. However, if you do not want the file running in the background all the time, you may disable it and enable it only when you want to look for updates. This means that with the file disabled, you will have to manually look for updates every now and then. To do so, you should first enable the file and then launch it so it can look for updates. After it has completed its task, you disable it again. Usually, the file gets installed when you install AOL IM.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. viewmgr.exe. is used by Viewpoint Manager, If you shut down viewmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop viewmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Viewpoint Manager, from your system.
