The vidalia.exe file is a Windows executable process that is known by the service name Vidalia, which is also the software’s name that houses it, and created by Vidalia-Project.Net. Also called as Privoxy, Vidalia is a type of a cross platform graphical controller developed and used for Tor application, and made using Qt framework. This software runs on Microsoft Windows operating system, especially those platforms supported by Qt 4.3 or later versions. As the core component, vidalia.exe is the module that lets a user start and stop the Tor software, as well as see the number or size of bandwidth used, as well as circuits that are active or connected on a global map, and view messages related to the status of Tor. Other than these, a user is able to configure the client, relay, or bridge of the Tor program client with its included easy-to-use interface. The vidalia.exe file is considered an important part of Vidalia application to enable all those functions.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. vidalia.exe. is used by Vidalia or Privoxy, If you shut down vidalia.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop vidalia.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Vidalia or Privoxy, from your system.
