The vbptask.exe process is used as an EXE program file of the RestoreIT! software, which is a Windows program classified as a system and data recovery tool developed by FarStone with a set of features that can allow users to restore files, folders, system settings and even OS installations in the event of data loss, corruption, BSoDs (Blue Screen of Death), system failures and crashes. The vbptask.exe process assists the FarStone RestoreIT! software in monitoring the system, automatically creating restoration points, restoring the system to these saved restoration points and in integrating the other embedded functionalities of the RestoreIT! application into the Windows-based system. The vbptask.exe process is specifically deployed as one of the EXE components of the FarStone VBPTask Application, which is a small program built into the FarStone RestoreIT! software. The vbptask.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the FarStone RestoreIT! program and automatically initializes during system startup by default, in order to constantly monitor system changes that must be included in the automatic restoration points that are created by the FarStone RestoreIT! application in regular intervals.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. vbptask.exe. is used by FarStone RestoreIT!, If you shut down vbptask.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop vbptask.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is FarStone RestoreIT!, from your system.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
