Utility.exe is the file executable for Energy Utility, an energy management program for Lenovo computers. This application runs upon 32-bit system startup whether on battery or on AC modes, executed by the explorer.exe process when the user logs in to Windows. This software is especially intended for Lenovo- manufactured devices and works with compatible applications, with corresponding configuration utilities. Utility.exe is manifested in the microcontroller, also called PMU or Power Management Unit, which governs the power functions of digital devices or platforms. The PMU microchip contains components for a standard computer, which includes firmware and software, CPU, memory, input/output functions, timers to measure time intervals. Its analog-to-digital converter measures the main battery power source voltage of the computer, and is among the few items that remain active when the machine is shut down and powered by backup battery.
