Developed by Microsoft Corporation, tscupgrd.exe or Terminal Services Upgrade, is the original name of the Remote Desktop Services process file in Windows Server 2008. The Remote Desktop Services software allows the user to access Windows applications and files on a remote computer in a network by using the RDP or Remote Desktop Protocol. All input is redirected over to the network down to the server, where the tscupgrd.exe application takes place. Microsoft has changed the name Terminal Services into Remote Desktop Services alongside the release of Windows Server 2008 in 2009. Windows added two programs that utilize terminal services: (1) the Remote Assistance which is available in Windows XP versions, and the (2) Remote Desktop which allows the user access to a remote computer and all data in it. Remote Desktop Services is available for Windows 32- and 64-bit system versions, including the Windows Mobile devices and Apple Mac OS X computers.
