The tposdsvc.exe file is the executable process for the hotkeys in IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. Tposdsvc.exe displays the results of using the function keys on the computer screen. For instance, when the user changes the system speaker volume, tposdsvc.exe displays the volume indicator on the computer screen. Abbreviated as OSD, on-screen display is the superimposed image on a screen which is commonly used by VCRs and DVD players, and modern TV sets to display status information such as channel, volume, and time. The OSDs are also seen in camcorders and can display varied information on the viewfinder or on the TV set which the camcorder is connected to. The complexity of graphic images offered by OSDs has greatly increased through the years, from monochrome images, to the intricate graphical user interfaces. Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tposdsvc.exe. is used by ThinkPad On-Screen Display Service, If you shut down tposdsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tposdsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ThinkPad On-Screen Display Service, from your system.
