On Screen Display (OSD) is a software developed by Lenovo and it contains the tphksvc.exe file. OSD is a superimposed image that can be seen on the screen. This software is being utilized by television sets, VCRs and DVD players. It is used to display information like volume, channel and time. The tphksvc.exe file adds functionality to the usual control on choosing viewing options. It is the control panel on the screen of the computer or television that enables the user to choose from the options given to him or her to adjust the display settings of the viewing pane of the user. This setting includes brightness, contrast and positioning. In the case of a computer, tphksvc.exe activates OSD through the buttons located at the bottom of the screen or at the top of the keyboard. The user adjusts the settings by pressing the arrow keys. On a television, tphksvc.exe activates OSD through the buttons on the set or on the remote control.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tphksvc.exe. is used by On Screen Display, If you shut down tphksvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tphksvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is On Screen Display, from your system.
