The toside.sys process is a system file included with other SYS driver files, associated resources, executable program files and modular DLL components that are used and referenced by the firmware and driver software resources of certain Toshiba laptops and devices. The toside.sys process is specifically deployed as one of the system driver components of the Toshiba PCI IDE Controller module, which is an applet built into the Toshiba firmware and driver software resources of the associated Toshiba laptop or device. The toside.sys file is placed in the system upon the installation of the associated Toshiba firmware and driver software components, which also means the toside.sys file is included in the isntaller distribution packages of these Toshiba firmware and driver software resources.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. toside.sys. is used by Toshiba PCI IDE Controller Module, If you shut down toside.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop toside.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Toshiba PCI IDE Controller Module, from your system.
