What is  statusclient.exe

HP Status Client is a background service executed on the machine via the statusclient.exe file. The file appears to be installed alongside the drivers for HP printers. The primary role of the file seems a little bit unclear as there is not one definite description of the process that is available for reference. The file appears to be a tweaking tool for HP devices, but apart from this little bit of information; nothing else can be found about the process. As far as some users are concerned however, the file is a CPU hog, consuming CPU resources anywhere from 50% to 95% - sometimes more, for some clients. The file has a standard path of C:\Progra Files\Hewlett-Packard\Toolbox\StatusClient\statusclient.exe. File sizes vary, usually ranging from 36,864 bytes up to 151,552 bytes. Its most common size for Windows XP and Windows 7 is 61,440 bytes. Users who found the file hogging CPU time disabled it and found no adverse effects on the functions of their HP printer.
