What is  sbredrv.sys

CounterSpy Anti-Rootkit System Driver, Anti-Rootkit Engine and Anti-Rootkit Driver are the most common names for the process that installs on the computer through the executable file sbredrv.sys. The software that installs the process is VIPRE Antivirus, and what the process does is to detect rootkits that have installed themselves onto the system, and then removes these so they can no longer spy on you, or do various tasks stealthily. The file also detects rootkits before they get installed onto your computer system. The file’s general disk image directory path is C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\sbredrv.sys. The process’ file size is about 101,112 bytes. The file is considered as non-threatening with regards to system security, but it has been found to be incompatible with some AV programs. Usually, incompatibility issues only arise after the AV software has been updated. The process runs as a background task so it can prevent rootkits from entering the system in real-time.
