Called Runescape Windows Client or Internet Client as its service name, the runescape.exe file is a Windows process that is bundled in the software RuneScape Windows Client or Runescape Internet Client, which is a product created by Jagex Software. What Runescape Windows or Internet Client does is to open the Runescape window without pop-ups of web advertisements, add-ons or plugins, and address bars. Because of that, the web browser window is minimized, so the view is much smaller than the normal. This does not only opens that particular window, but also provides bug fixes, enhancements, as well as updates. This software is also used and installed if Java is not present on the computer system. As a core component, runescape.exe is the file that needs to remain stored on the computer, and continue running in the background. Thus, keep it working on the computer and let it provide the different tasks, including the other modules that call for it for execution.
