The rundll.dll file has been reported by many users as a malicious program disguised as a legitimate DLL (Dynamic Link Library) module. The same users claimed the rundll.dll file can create keys and entries that could be injected into the Windows System Registry upon the placement and activation of the rundll.dll file in the system. When these registry keys and entries have been successfully entered into the Windows System Registry, the rundll.dll file can then automatically initialize during system startup, according to these user reports. Some users stated that the rundll.dll file, while actively running as a background process during system runtime without user consent, can exploit vulnerable TCP/IP network ports of the infected system, in order to initiate contact with the Web servers of its authors. The same users reported that, upon the exploitation of these vulnerable system TCP/IP network ports, the rundll.dll can then upload collected private information and Internet browsing data from the infected system and its default Web browser to these predesignated Web servers.
