The rootkitrevealer.exe file is an executable component process integrated with the system drivers, modular DLL resources and program files that are required by the RootkitRevealer software, which is a program for Windows-based systems classified as a system security application that was designed by Sysinternals with a set of features for monitoring and preventing rootkit-like activity in the system. The rootkitrevealer.exe file is packaged with the installer distributions of the RootkitRevealer application, which also means the rootkitrevealer.exe process is installed in the system upon the installation of the RootkitRevealer software. The rootkitrevealer.exe process is placed in the same application folder where the RootkitRevealer software was installed, and this is usually in a sub directory under the Program Files directory of the system partition. The rootkitrevealer.exe process is specifically deployed as the executable program dispatcher file of the RootkitRevealer software, which means the RootkitRevealer program and its integrated functionalities can be loaded and implemetned unto the system upon the execution of the rootkitrevealer.exe process. Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rootkitrevealer.exe. is used by Sysinternals RootkitRevealer and Rootkit Detection Utility Module, If you shut down rootkitrevealer.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rootkitrevealer.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Sysinternals RootkitRevealer and Rootkit Detection Utility Module, from your system.
