The rkillsrv.exe process is an executable file that is a legitimate component of the Internet Explorer 6 powered by Microsoft. The Windows Internet Explorer known before as Microsoft Internet Explorer is defined as a series of graphical browsers for the web developed by Microsoft. It has been a part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems since its start in 1995. Internet Explorer 6 is one of Internet Explorer’s 6 revisions that have a built-in security feature like a Smart Screen filter that lets users be more aware of online threats and therefore protects user privacy. Its redesigned new tab page and favorites gives easy accessibility to websites of the user’s preference. It also has a crash recovery help that ensures the browsing of users remain uninterrupted regardless if websites are functioning properly. The Internet Explorer 6 is the default browser compatible with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows Home Server.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rkillsrv.exe. is used by Windows Internet Explorer 6, If you shut down rkillsrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rkillsrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Internet Explorer 6, from your system.
