What is  rdvgkmd.sys

The rdvgkmd.sys system process is the system file for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework or KMDF, a driver structure developed by Microsoft Corporation to aid program driver developers in creating and maintaining kernel-mode device drivers specifically for Windows-based computers from version 2000 to later releases. KMDF is among the frameworks in Windows Driver Foundation. Kernel-Mode Driver Framework is a library which is also designed to help programmers in developing kernel-mode drivers supporting the WDM or Windows Driver Model. KMDF provides driver functionality, enabling the user to write a driver using less coding than WDM. The KMDF driver supports the events that its device responds to, while providing unique features to it. KMDF is object-based and is built above WDM which means KMDF provides object-based perspectives to WDM in following its superset architectural mandate. KMDF’s functionality resides in different objects. Its implementation consists of the following: • Power management for plug and play devices • Input/Output queues • DMA or Direct Memory Access • WMI or Windows Management Instrumentation • Synchronization
