The file rchost.exe, known as Unicenter Remote Control Host, belongs to software Unicenter Remote Control by Computer Associates International. This application is used to remotely control and support remote Windows systems and provide file transfer facility. The three installation modes for Unicenter Remote Control are locally managed, centrally managed, and custom. The locally managed mode requires minimal resources but the security policy of every participating system has to be configured individually. The centrally managed system requires more resources but it allows security policies to be specified and enforced across the network. For the centrally managed system, the remote control agent can be distributed and setup over a network. This application supports a stealth mode that allows the network administrator to observe everything that happens on the remote system's screen while suppressing the normal connection warnings. Remote control sessions can be recorded and replayed for review.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rchost.exe. is used by Unicenter Remote Control, If you shut down rchost.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rchost.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Unicenter Remote Control, from your system.
