The rampartsvc.exe process is an executable file bundled with the program files, system drivers and modular resource components that are used and referenced by the SonicWALL Global VPN Client software, which is an application that is provided by SonicWALL to their VPN (Virtual Private Network) service subscribers. The SonicWALL Global VPN Client application can be installed in Windows-based client computers in order to allow subscribers to access the VPN resources and services offered by SonicWALL. The rampartsvc.exe process is packaged with the installer distributions of the SonicWALL Global VPN Client software, which also means the rampartsvc.exe process is installed in the system along with other components of the SonicWALL Global VPN Client application during the installation process of this program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rampartsvc.exe. is used by SonicWALL Global VPN Client, If you shut down rampartsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rampartsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is SonicWALL Global VPN Client, from your system.
