The file precomp.exe belongs to software Just Cause, which is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Avalanche Studios and released for PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, Xbox and Xbox 360 in 2006. The core gameplay consists of elements of third-person shooter and driving game, with a large open world environment to move around in. The open world is a virtual world where the player can roam freely and is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to achieve his objectives. The open non-linear environment allows players to choose how to play the game. Third person shooter (TPS) games like Just Cause is a genre of 3D action games where the player character is visible on-screen and the gameplay consists primarily of shooting. In Just Cause however, the player's character is capable of walking, swimming, utilizing weapons, jumping, and hand-to-hand combat. Players can also take control of cars, boats, and fixed wing aircraft, perform stunts with their cars, and go skydiving, parasailing, and base-jumping.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. precomp.exe. is used by Just Cause, If you shut down precomp.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop precomp.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Just Cause, from your system.
