The process pnxservr.exe relates to the NexusServer from Canopus Co. and belongs to application Canopus ProCoder 2.0, a video encoding and transcoding software. It features a new Watch Folder network support that automatically encodes any video file placed in a watch folder. For flexibility, the Watch Folder can be placed in the network so video professionals on the network can encode with Procoder 2. It features additional encoding options like MPEG-4, MPEG and HP transport stream encoding, and the ability to combine separate audio and video files into a single file. The easy-to-use Wizard Interface simplifies the transcoding process and enables selection of the appropriate video codec. The versatility of the application is enhanced by the expanded format compatibility that supports HD resolution (720p and 1080i), seamless transcoding between HD and SD resolutions and frame rates, and transcoding between HD-compatible formats like DivX, MPEG, QuickTime, and Windows High Media Definition Video (WMV HD). ProCoder 2.0 also supports MPEG transport streams, including those created by JVC's GR-HD1 and JY-HD10 HD cameras, and over-the-air HDTV broadcast streams.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pnxservr.exe. is used by ProCoder 2.0, If you shut down pnxservr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pnxservr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ProCoder 2.0, from your system.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message.
