What is  perl.exe

The perl.exe process is the executable file for POPFile, a user-controlled email classifier downloadable freeware. POPFile functions by classifying e-mails into categories defined by the user. This program enables the user sort and filter unwanted or unsolicited e-mails as spam the moment the e-mail enters the server. POPFile tracks certain keywords in various categories of incoming messages. The POPFile adapts to the constant pattern of e-mail classification of the user. The perl.exe file accesses the TCP/IP ports to communicate with the e-mail client and the server, and with the web browser to display its interface. Persona firewall should be modified in order for the Perl process to run properly. Once installed, POPFile has zero filtering ability. Constant program usage and sustained activity sharpens POPFile’s e-mail recognition, filtering and categorizing capabilities. POPFile is a user-trainable software that users can control and configure. POPFile features verbal cues for detected incoming spam or undesired e-mails.
