The pcsws.exe process is the executable file for Personal Communications WorkStation, a collection of wireless communication tools which allow personal mobility, terminal mobility, and the ability to manage service profiles by providing advanced services like cellular and paging digital services. PCS is the wireless telephone technology that combines broad range of services and features in both the analog and the digital cellular mobile phone systems, and provide users with all-in-one wireless phone messaging, paging, and data services. Personal Communications delivers powerful personal networking to workstations by providing connectivity options that support the LAN or local area network as well as the WAN or wide area network environments. Personal Communications provides an efficient set of networking communications and administrative features. PCS is a complete emulator package which has a user-friendly graphical interface, and includes very useful features that include dynamic file transfer configuration and emulators that include the Access Class Library IBM Host.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pcsws.exe. is used by Personal Communications, If you shut down pcsws.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pcsws.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Personal Communications, from your system.
