The pchooklaunch32.exe process is the executable file for BitDefender, an antivirus software developed by Softwin, a Romanian software company. Bitdefender features antivirus products and antispyware, privacy control, personal firewall, user backup and control for business and home users. The Performance Optimizer and PC Tuneup are contained in the new Total Security Suite. The Bitdefender products include antivirus for home and business users. The home edition supports Microsoft Windows, Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Mac operating systems. The business edition supports Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac operating systems. The current Home Office Security Suite version includes antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware, backup, tune-up, e-mail spam filtering, and parental control programs. The Bitdefender protects devices and computers from all types of viruses and spyware. Compared to the commercial version, Bitdefender’s free tools offer the on-demand virus scan features and does not include real time scanning, which may not be suitable for machines that have continuous Internet connection.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pchooklaunch32.exe. is used by BitDefender, If you shut down pchooklaunch32.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pchooklaunch32.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is BitDefender, from your system.
