What is  msftesql.exe

Part of a Microsoft software, the file msftesql.exe is a component of SQL Server, and of MSSearch; with a process name of PKM executable. Basically, it is a module of the full-text and search utility, which allows applications to export text-only queries addressed to SQL Server data that have character variables. The process also helps in text-only indexing to organize tables for full-text queries. This in turn, maximizes “hits” during queries. Command line for the file is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\ msftesql.exe. It is a service that runs in the background, hence; the process takes up a percentage of total CPU usage. An increase in CPU usage has been cited several times by different users, and the issue was addressed accordingly by Microsoft’s Technical Team. This is a support service that ensures smooth running of SQL servers, but the option to run it in the background or to shut it down, is up to the users.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. msftesql.exe. is used by PKM Executable, If you shut down msftesql.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop msftesql.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is PKM Executable, from your system.
