What is  msdct.exe

The msdct.exe process is an executable file deployed as one of the EXE application resource processes of the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator software, which is a Windows application that serves as a transaction manager for authenticating permission requests from client programs that carry lone transactions comprised of content from multiple data sources, and for distributing these validated transactions across the servers that are included in the recipient lists of those transactions. The msdct.exe process is placed in the system upon the integration of the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator software. The msdct.exe process and the other components of the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator software can also be implemented into the system upon the installation of certain applications that require this program, such as Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Personal Web Server.
