What is  mounter.exe

DokanMounter is a startup entry that executes through the file mounter.exe. This is a file that belongs to the Dokan Library software. This software provides users with applications that enable them to create file systems, generally to enhance their FAT or NTFS file systems. When the user has created new file systems, the mounter.exe process will mount these new file systems onto your Windows system. When the user executes the Dokan Library software the kernel mode driver, the user mode library and the mounter service will automatically be installed on the computer. All of these components work together to enables the applications of the software, as well as allow users to fully utilize all the features of the program. The file executes as a background service on Windows –based systems. Its usual file path is C:\Program Files\Dokan\DokanLibrary\mounter.exe. Its size is approximately 14.5 KB. It is recommended that the file be allowed to execute upon startup and run as a background service so that the user can fully benefit from its functions.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mounter.exe. is used by DokanMounter, If you shut down mounter.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
