The modps2key.exe process is an executable file for Windows, and pertains to AccessL, which is a component of a utility tool product called Hotkey Driver, or Gaming Keyboard Driver by Chicony Electronics Company, Ltd. Hotkey Driver or Gaming Keyboard Driver is a type of driver application that has to be installed on a computer. Yet, this software relies on its components, which include the file modps2key.exe. It means that the modps2key.exe process needs to be installed and stored on the system too, in order to enable the software associated with it. Whenever the Hotkey Driver software is installed, this file is automatically downloaded, and a user is able to usually find it in C:\Program Files folder, and seen in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. This also means that if the modps2key.exe file is deleted or stopped from working, the software is certainly disabled or does not work properly. Other than that, modules that depend on the file may also not function, which ultimately disable Hotkey Driver for good.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. modps2key.exe. is used by Hotkey Driver, If you shut down modps2key.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop modps2key.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hotkey Driver, from your system.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
