The process maxthon.exe is associated with the Maxthon Browser from Maxthon International Ltd. It registers itself into the Windows Task Scheduler and is automatically launched by the Windows operating system. This program is a shell open command in the Windows registry, which means that the executable file extension is associated with a specific application. It is a digitally authorized file from Maxthon (Asia) Ltd., with certification from Symantec and VeriSign. The Maxthon Browser is an Internet Explorer based browser that contains menus and configuration options that allow a user to customize his browser according to his preferences. Users can modify or change all aspects of the browser, from the interface style, language options, view, standard file and tool types. The configuration options are located in new tabs rather than windows, which facilitates location and modification by the user.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. maxthon.exe. is used by Maxthon Browder, If you shut down maxthon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop maxthon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Maxthon Browder, from your system.
