If the computer user sees that a jswtrayutil.exe file is included in the system processes, then Jumpstart Tray Utility or JSW Utility is running in the background. Jumpstart Tray Utility is a tool that is made available to the user. The user only needs to click a button to gain access to the wireless configuration settings which is displayed in the Microsoft Windows desktop. Several computers manufactured by Toshiba are equipped with the JSW Tray utility. The application has been pre-installed in the device. When the user boots his or her computer, the jswtrayutil.exe file that comes with it, initiates the application and thus, it starts to run in the system. The jswtrayutil.exe file allows an amateur user to configure the wireless network connection of his or her computer through Jumpstart. Jumpstart provides a simple graphical interface where users can detect what kind of encryption protocols the network uses and then it helps users create the correct encryption key.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. jswtrayutil.exe. is used by Jumpstart Utility Tray, If you shut down jswtrayutil.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop jswtrayutil.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Jumpstart Utility Tray, from your system.
