Developed by Sun Microsystems, Inc., jp2launcher.exe is the process file for Java Platform, a set of software products as well as specifications set by Sun Microsystems that provide system developing application program for the deployment of cross-platform computing environments. The Java Platform is also used in embedded devices in mobile phones from the low-end to the high-end enterprise servers and computers. Though less common with desktop computers, the Java Platform applets provide enhanced and secure functions in the World Wide Web. The Java programming language writing is the primary method in producing codes deployed as the Java bytecode. However, there are bytecode compilers that are available for JavaScript, Ada, Ruby, and Python. Several new languages are designed to natively run on the JVM or Java Virtual Machine, such as Clojure, Scala, and Groovy. Java eliminates specific low-level constructs, and has very simple memory where every object gets allocated and all the variables of object types become references.
