The istsvc.exe process is an executable program file that belongs to the components of the ISTbar program, which has been reported by many users as a malicious Browser Helper Object (BHO) that is said to be capable of hijacking Internet Explorer's search page and homepage settings. The istsvc.exe file is placed in the system upon the successful installation and configuration of the ISTbar Internet Explorer add-on software, which also means the istsvc.exe process is integrated into the installer distributions of the ISTbar program, along with the other resource components that are used by the ISTbar application to implement its embedded functionalities into the system. The ISTbar software has also been reported by many users as a spyware application because it is said to be capable of collecting Internet browsing information from the Internet Explorer Web browser of the infected system, in which these pieces of gathered data are uploaded to remote servers that are managed and operated by the authors of the ISTbar software, according to the same user reports.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. istsvc.exe. is used by ISTbar Spyware, If you shut down istsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop istsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ISTbar Spyware, from your system.
