The iPROSetMonitor.exe process is the executable file for Intel PRO Wireless, a series of wireless Intel products that is part of the Intel PROSet Monitoring Service programmed and developed by Intel Corporation. Intel PRO Wireless is responsible for the hardware pieces in the system as it offers configuration options as well as support for the devices. Intel PROSet Wireless utilities is used for the management of network performance, profile and power managements, and user-configured network settings. Intel PROSet detects any wireless network within that adapter range, providing automatic connection and configuration. ZCfgSvc is just one of Intel PROSet’s background service components for wireless software management. This service aids the connection reliability in cases of difficult radio environment frequencies by monitoring their wireless connection link statuses. It invokes the device driver when the wireless link statuses are down or lost, and then does a scan for profile matches and attempts reconnection. Disabling this service, therefore, will make features inoperable.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. iprosetmonitor.exe. is used by Intel ProSet Monitoring Service, If you shut down iprosetmonitor.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop iprosetmonitor.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Intel ProSet Monitoring Service, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Intel ProSet Monitoring Service, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
