The program associated with the file inort.exe is Computer Associates International’s eTrust Antivirus, of which InoculateIT is executed. The software provides a suite of antivirus applications to guarantee system security, especially when browsing through the Internet. It specializes in warding off incoming online threats, and securing the computer’s health at all times. The only downside found by users is that the file takes a considerable amount of memory space, approximately 27.25 MB, and incidents of CPU usage reaching up to 94%, have also been reported. In addition, there were reports that a worm posing as the inort.exe file, were found to have infected some computers. This worm is known as quaters.a worm, and has been found to be “most likely” a virus by some users. This could be due to the antivirus program not being downloaded from a trusted source, which put the computer at risk by making it open to attacks by malicious software associated with the file name inort.exe.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. inort.exe. is used by eTrust , If you shut down inort.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop inort.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is eTrust , from your system.
