What is  incognito.exe

The incognito.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by some users as a variant of the malicious program known as Mal/Resdro-A. The same users stated that the incognito.exe process is capable of implementing backdoor rootkit and Trojan-like functionalities into the system, while a few users reported spyware-like activity in their Windows-based computers that were infected with the incognito.exe process. Most of these users claimed that the incognito.exe process is capable of creating registry keys and entries upon the successful placement and activation of this file in Windows-based systems, and upon the insertion of these entries and keys into the Windows System Registry, the incognito.exe process has been reported to automatically initialize during system startup. The incognito.exe process is also said to be capable of operating as a background process in the infected system without user consent, and this is when the incognito.exe process tries to find system vulnerabilities that it can exploit, according to the same user reports, in order to initiate contact with Web servers that are operated and managed by its authors. Upon connecting to these Web servers, the incognito.exe process has been reported to download more malicious programs unto the infected system and upload covertly gathered data and Internet browsing information from the data storage devices of the system and its default Web browser straight to these predesignated Web servers.

How can I stop incognito.exe and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. incognito.exe. is used by Mal/Resdro-A, If you shut down incognito.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop incognito.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Mal/Resdro-A, from your system.
